BUTTERMILK & BOURBON

When Chef Jason Santos reached out to Assembly Design Studio to redesign an old Spanish tapas restaurant in Boston’s historic Back Bay, we jumped at the chance. Taking advantage of the beautiful bones of this 1800s building, we played with both its foundational elements (brick, original arches, small rooms) and the theatrical nature of New Orleans. Some of the highlights include the blacklit voodoo lounge with special effects paint, converted church pews for banquette seating, custom hand painted wall murals, and a custom oyster bar. Buttermilk & Bourbon exudes a sense of fun and creativity which highlights the beloved NOLA culture.
